The double engine government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the center and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in the state is going to realize the dreams of six and a half crore citizens in Gujarat. While various development works are being completed under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, various development works are going to be launched in Surat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a 2-day visit to Gujarat at the end of September. PM Modi will visit Surat on September 29 and during that he will inaugurate various development projects worth Rs. 3472.54 crore.
These various developments include water supply works worth Rs. 672 crore, drainage projects worth Rs.890 crore, DREAM City works worth Rs. 370 crore, Biodiversity Park worth Rs.139 crore and other developments like public infrastructure, heritage restoration, city bus which includes BRTS infrastructure, electric vehicle infrastructure as well as joint development projects by the central and state governments.
An ambitious Diamond Research and Mercantile (DREAM) City project launched for Surat’s diamond merchants is progressing in full swing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the phase-1 road infrastructure works of Dream City at a cost of Rs.103.40 crore. Along with this, the main entrance of Dream City will be inaugurated at a cost of Rs.9.53 crore. Besides, Phase-II works will be scheduled. Thus, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the development works of Dream City worth Rs.369.60 crore.
Notably, the Government of Gujarat formed a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) named Diamond Research and Mercantile City Limited (DREAM City Limited) with a vision to meet the growing demand for commercial and residential space as a complement to the rapid growth of the diamond trading business in Surat.
