Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present at various development works in Gujarat on Friday, July 16, 2021, with the inauguration of the rebuilt “Gandhinagar Capital Railway Station” at the state capital Gandhinagar. The Prime Minister will inaugurate eight different developmental works from Gandhinagar, including the renovated Gandhinagar railway station, at 4 pm on Friday from New Delhi.

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he resolved to make Gujarat the most developed state in the country. As part of his vision, a world-class “Mahatma Mandir Convention Center Complex” was set up at Gandhinagar. It is well known that the “Mahatma Mandir” embodied by the Prime Minister has witnessed several national and international business summits, conferences, exhibitions, and innovative events, including the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit.

After the regular biennial “Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit” held at the Mahatma Mandir, the attraction of this place increased manifold for all. The venue has become a major host for presidents, prime ministers, parliamentarians, ambassadors, entrepreneurs, scientists, and academics from around the world.

Many state-of-the-art projects including Mahatma Mandir, Metro Rail, the six-lane highway connecting Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar, National Forensic Sciences University, Raksha Shakti University, Gift-City have been rejuvenated with advanced renovations in the vicinity of Mahatma Mandir. 3 platforms have been reconstructed in the railway station. Constructed as per the new guidelines of world-class railway stations in the country, one of the 3 platforms at this railway station is a one-end platform, while the other is an island platform.

The station has 2 escalators, 3 elevators, and 2 pedestrian subways, connecting the platforms. In addition, there is a waiting area for about 300 persons at different locations, a centrally air-conditioned multipurpose hall, baby feeding room, prayer room and first aid room, audio-video, a display area for an art gallery with LED screen and 105-meter long column-free aluminum station with a roof. This station is 100% flexible for the disabled.

The Capital Railway Station has been reconstructed with the participation of Garud (Gandhinagar Railway and Urban Development Co. Ltd.), Government of Gujarat 74%, and Ministry of Railways 24%. With the development and modernization, the newly constructed five-star hotel near this railway station will be a major attraction for the visiting delegates from home and abroad. The metro train route from Ahmedabad-Motera to Mahatma Mandir, which will be completed in the early stages of the year 2024, and the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar six-lane highway will further boost the newly constructed “Gandhinagar Capital Railway Station” and the state.

This state-of-the-art renovated railway station and the hotel have been constructed in such a way that its spatial axis appears in a row with the Gujarat Legislative Assembly building. The design of these new constructions is such that the underpass connecting the entire complex with the Capital Railway Station, “Mahatma Mandir”, Dandi Kutir, and the new five-star hotel, 18-meter wide and connecting east and west, seems to have been integrated. This underpass connects the rest of the roads with “Kh” road in the east and “K” road in the west.
