As the results of the Lok Sabha elections position the BJP-led NDA to form government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that this is a historic moment in the history of the nation because people have shown their confidence in the ruling alliance for the third time in a row. Additionally, he thanked the staff for their dedication.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “The people of the country have expressed their trust in the NDA for the third consecutive time. This is an unprecedented moment in the history of India. I thank my family for their love and blessings. I assure the countrymen that to fulfil their aspirations, we will move forward with new energy, new enthusiasm, and new resolves.”

“I express my heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to all the workers for the dedication and tireless hard work they have done,” the Prime Minister added.

By a margin of 1,52,513 votes, PM Modi defeated Congress challenger Ajay Rai in Varanasi to win his third consecutive election.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leads in 293 seats, while the INDIA bloc leads in 232 seats, based on the most recent ECI trends.

The BJP has gained 240 seats or is in the lead.

In both the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP emerged victorious on its own, gaining 282 seats in the former and 303 seats in the latter.

From April 19 to June 1, there were seven phases for the Lok Sabha elections.
