PM Modi, Sonia Gandhi pay tribute to Indira Gandhi on her 105th birth anniversary

Several Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and party chief President Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday, paid tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary.  Rahul Gandhi, paid tributes to his grandmother Indira Gandhi during his ongoing ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in Maharashtra.

United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also paid floral tributes to the former PM on her birth anniversary at Shakti Sthal in Delhi.

PM Modi took to his twitter and wrote, “Tributes to our former PM Mrs. Indira Gandhi Ji on her birth anniversary.”  

To mark the 105th birth anniversary of former PM Indira Gandhi, Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh earlier said “only women MLAs, MPs, party workers, panchayat members, Bharat Jodo Yatris, will walk in Bharat Jodo Yatra with Rahul Gandhi to show ‘mahila shakti’.” 

Indira Gandhi was the first and only woman Prime Minister of India.  She was the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru , the first Prime Minister of independent India.  Her mother Kamala Nehru was also a freedom fighter and leader of Indian National Congress.
