President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed their heartfelt greetings to the nation on the occasion of Vijayadashami on Saturday.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), President Murmu expressed, “On the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all the countrymen. This festival symbolizes the triumph of justice over injustice and reflects our belief in truth and morality. On this day, let us pledge to stand by justice, even in the most challenging situations. May this holy festival bring happiness, prosperity, and lead our nation on the path of progress.”
Prime Minister Modi also shared his wishes via X, saying, “Best wishes to all on Vijayadashami. With the blessings of Maa Durga and Lord Shri Ram, I pray that you achieve victory in all spheres of life.”
Both President Murmu and Prime Minister Modi are expected to attend the Dussehra celebrations at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan, organized by the Shri Dharmik Leela Committee. Dheeraj Dhar Gupta, General Secretary of the committee, shared that the event, marking its 101st year, will commence at 5:30 pm. Security measures have been heightened due to the Prime Minister’s attendance, with the Special Protection Group (SPG) overseeing the security arrangements.
Vijayadashami, or Dussehra, is a significant Hindu festival celebrated annually at the conclusion of Navaratri. It falls on the tenth day of the month of Ashvin in the Hindu Luni-Solar calendar, typically during September or October. The festival is celebrated across India, with the most popular tale associated with it being Lord Rama’s victory over the demon king Ravana. Vijayadashami also marks the beginning of preparations for Diwali, the festival of lights, celebrated twenty days later.
