The Vande Bharat Express will be the world’s first semi-high-speed passenger train to operate on high-rise overhead electric lines. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off Rajasthan’s first Vande Bharat Express train through video conferencing on April 12 in another step towards semi-high-speed railway connection.

The inaugural Vande Bharat Express will run between Jaipur and Delhi Cantt railway stations in Rajasthan. The Vande Bharat Express will begin regular service on April 13. It will run from Ajmer to Delhi Cantt, with stops at Jaipur, Alwar, and Gurgaon. The new Vande Bharat Express would traverse the distance between Delhi Cantt. and Ajmer in 5 hours and 15 minutes, according to the schedule.
Shatabdi Express, the current quickest train on the same route, takes 6 hours and 15 minutes. The new Vande Bharat Express will be 60 minutes faster than the current quickest train over the same route.
The Cantt Vande Bharat Express between Ajmer and Delhi will be the first semi-high-speed passenger train ever to operate on high-rise overhead electric (OHE) lines.
The train would enhance accessibility to popular tourist locations in Rajasthan, such as Pushkar and the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, among other locations that draw large numbers of visitors all year long. Improved connectivity will also help the region’s socioeconomic development.
On April 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi waved the Vande Bharat Express from Chennai to Coimbatore off. After the Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express left the Secunderabad Railway Station in Telangana, it was the second semi-high-speed train to depart on the same day.
PM Modi has already signalled the start of India’s eighth Vande Bharat Express between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam in January.
A Vande Bharat Express on the Bhopal-New Delhi route was flagged off by Prime Minister Modi a week prior to the debut.
While travelling the 660 kilometres between the cities, the Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express makes stops at Nalgonda, Guntur, Ongole, and Nellore stations.
An indigenously produced, semi-high speed, self-propelled train set is called the Vande Bharat Express. Modern passenger amenities on board the train make for a speedier, more comfortable, and more convenient journey for passengers.
