Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the newly redeveloped Ayodhya railway station in Ayodhya on Sunday. Accompanied by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, he flagged off two Amit Bharat and six Vande Bharat trains from the station.

During the event, he also boarded the Amrit Bharat Express and inspected the facilities available for passengers. Additionally, he was seen interacting with some child volunteers inside the Amrit Bharat coach.

The newly introduced Amrit Bharat trains will operate as the Darbhanga-Ayodhya-Anand Vihar Terminal Amrit Bharat Express and the Malda Town-Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminus (Bengaluru) Amrit Bharat Express. Among the Vande Bharat trains that were flagged off are the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express, Amritsar-Delhi Vande Bharat Express, Coimbatore-Bangalore Cantt Vande Bharat Express, Mangalore-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express, Jalna-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express, and Ayodhya-Anand Vihar Terminal Vande Bharat Express.

The redeveloped Ayodhya railway station, now known as the Ayodhya Dham Junction Railway Station, is part of Phase I and has been constructed at a cost exceeding Rs 240 crore. This modern three-storey station is equipped with various amenities such as elevators, escalators, food plazas, shops catering to puja requirements, cloakrooms, child care rooms, and waiting halls. It has been designed to be accessible to all and is set to receive an ‘IGBC-certified green station building’ certification.
