Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his virtual address during the second edition of the InFinity Forum, emphasized India’s impressive economic growth and leadership role in the Global South. He noted that India’s growth story demonstrates the positive outcomes achieved through prioritizing policy, ensuring good governance, and placing the country and its citizens at the core of economic policies.

PM Modi highlighted India’s economic progress, citing a growth rate of 7.7 per cent in just six months of the current fiscal year. He also mentioned that Australia’s Prime Minister, earlier in March, recognized India’s strong position to provide leadership to the Global South.

The World Economic Forum’s acknowledgement of reduced red tape in India, creating a more favourable environment for investment, was underscored by PM Modi. He mentioned that the international community is looking at India with hopes and expectations, attributing this positive perception to the strengthening economy and transformative reforms implemented over the past decade.

Addressing the global challenge of climate change, PM Modi emphasized India’s awareness of its responsibilities as one of the largest economies, ensuring that concerns related to climate change are not underestimated.

Discussing the Gujarat International Finance Technology City (GIFT City) in Gujarat, PM Modi expressed confidence that the economic policies formulated in GIFT City would bring pride to the state. He highlighted India’s status as one of the fastest-growing FinTech markets globally, aligning with GIFT IFSC’s vision to emerge as a FinTech hub.

The Prime Minister congratulated Gujarat on UNESCO’s recognition of the traditional dance Garba as an intangible cultural heritage, considering it a significant achievement for the state and the country.

The Infinity Forum, organized by the International Financial Services Centers Authority (IFSCA), serves as a platform to explore and advance ideas in finance and technology. The event aims to develop these ideas into global solutions and opportunities, reflecting India’s commitment to innovation and leadership in the financial sector.
