In Madhya Pradesh, where voting for the 230-member Assembly is currently taking place, Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted first-time voters on Friday. In the second round of voting for 70 seats in the 90-member Chhattisgarh Assembly, he also urged voters to exercise their right to vote in large numbers.
In the Bindranavagarh Assembly constituency, voting will take place in nine polling places from 7 am to 3 pm, while the second phase of polling in Chhattisgarh began at 8 pm and will run until 3 pm. For the second round of voting in Chhattisgarh, more than 18,800 polling places have been set up. Across the 70 seats, 958 candidates are running for office.
Voting for the first phase of 20 seats in Chhattisgarh took place on November 7, while Madhya Pradesh is only holding one phase of polling. PM Modi posted on social media platform X using his official handle, saying, “I am sure that voters will cast enthusiastic ballots to celebrate this historic festival of democracy, regardless of where they live in the state. “My special regards to all the young people in the state who are participating in their first election,” PM Modi wrote in Hindi on X.
“Today is the final and second round of voting for the Assembly of Chhattisgarh. I ask everyone who has the right to vote to exercise their right to vote in historic numbers. To preserve our democratic customs and traditions, each and every one of your votes is crucial,” PM Modi continued in his message.
With the exception of the Baihar, Lanji, and Parswara assembly seats in the Balaghat district and a few booths in the Mandla and Dindori districts, where voting will take place until 3 pm, voters can exercise their right to vote until 6 pm.
