Following this, PM Modi also met with Mozambique President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi and Timor-Leste’s President, Jose Ramos-Horta in Gandhinagar. Petr Fiala, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, had arrived in Ahmedabad the previous day to participate in the three-day Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit from January 10 to 12. The theme for this year’s summit is ‘Gateway to the Future,’ celebrating 20 years of Vibrant Gujarat as the Summit of Success.

During the summit, PM Modi had a productive meeting with President Jose Ramos-Horta of Timor-Leste, emphasizing the strengthening ties between “Delhi and Dili.” The discussions covered various sectors, with a focus on development partnerships in areas such as energy, IT, FinTech, health, and capacity building.

PM Modi highlighted the special nature of his meeting with Jose Ramos-Horta, given Mahatma Gandhi’s influence on Horta’s life and work. President Ramos-Horta had arrived in Gujarat on Monday, welcomed by Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel at the airport.

The significance of the meeting was enhanced by President Nyusi’s previous association with Gujarat, having pursued a course at the renowned Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. PM Modi expressed his pleasure at the meeting, emphasizing the unique connection President Nyusi shares with Gujarat.

Discussions between PM Modi and President Nyusi covered a wide range of subjects, including defence collaboration, trade partnerships, energy cooperation, and the rich cultural ties binding India and Mozambique.
