Swachh Bharat is a shared responsibility, and every effort counts, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday, urging citizens to participate in a cleaning drive on October 1 starting at 10 am.

“1st October at 10 AM, we come together for a pivotal cleanliness initiative. A Swachh Bharat is a shared responsibility, and every effort counts. Join this noble endeavour to usher in a cleaner future,” PM Modi posted on X (Formerly Twitter).
Earlier during his 105th episode of Mann ki Baat, PM Modi said, “A big event on cleanliness is going to be organised on October 1 that is on Sunday at 10 am. You too should take out time and help in this campaign related to cleanliness. You can also join this cleanliness campaign in your street, or neighbourhood or at a park, river, lake or any other public place.”

To commemorate Gandhi Jayanti, the “Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” Campaign is a massive cleaning initiative. In preparation for the “Swachhata Pakhwada- Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign in 2023, this initiative was launched. This comes after PM Modi requested that all citizens participate in an hour of “Shramdaan for swachhata” on October 1st at 10 am. Every town, Gram Panchayat, and department of the government, including the railways, civil aviation, and public institutions, will support community-led cleanliness initiatives. To assist organizations in hosting various events, a dedicated portal has been created. This portal will also invite citizens and influential people to become Swachhata Ambassadors and join this grassroots movement.
