Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on a three-day visit to the United States, announcing plans to engage in various programs, including a bilateral meeting with President Biden.

In his itinerary, PM Modi mentioned his attendance at the Summit of the Future, hosted by the United Nations General Assembly, as well as a community event in New York. In a post on X, he shared, “During my visit to the USA, I will take part in multiple programs, including the Quad Summit in Wilmington, hosted by President Biden. I look forward to the discussions at the Summit and will also meet bilaterally with President Biden.”

In his departure statement, PM Modi expressed anticipation for the Quad Summit, stating, “I look forward to joining President Biden, Prime Minister Albanese, and Prime Minister Kishida as we work together for peace, progress, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.” The sixth Quad Leaders’ Summit, taking place in Wilmington, Delaware, on September 21, will feature discussions on regional security and cooperation, with India set to host the next summit in 2025.

During his visit, PM Modi will interact with both the Indian diaspora and American business leaders, emphasizing the importance of their roles in strengthening the partnership between the largest and oldest democracies. “I am eager to engage with key stakeholders who contribute to the vibrancy of our unique partnership,” he stated.

Regarding the UN’s “Summit of the Future,” PM Modi highlighted it as an opportunity for the international community to plan for humanity’s betterment. He noted, “I will represent the views of one-sixth of humanity, as their stakes in a peaceful and secure future are among the highest in the world.” UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has labeled the summit a “once-in-a-generation event,” marking a significant milestone as the UN approaches its 80th anniversary in 2025.

The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, also shared on X, “PM @narendramodi has departed for the USA to participate in the 6th Quad Leaders’ Summit and to address the UN ‘Summit of the Future.'” Notably, India and the United States share a comprehensive global strategic partnership, driven by mutual democratic values, aligned interests, and strong people-to-people connections.
