Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with Guyana’s highest national honor, ‘The Order of Excellence’, during his visit to the country, which marked the final leg of his three-nation tour. The prestigious award was presented by Guyanese President Mohamed Irfaan Ali in recognition of PM Modi’s outstanding service to the global community, his statesmanship, and his role in strengthening India-Guyana relations.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal described the award as “another feather in the cap for India.”

PM Modi expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the honor, thanking President Ali for the recognition, which he called a “living proof” of Guyana’s deep commitment to the bilateral relationship. He emphasized that India-Guyana ties are rooted in shared history, cultural heritage, and mutual trust.

“India is ready to walk shoulder to shoulder with Guyana in every field. Our cooperation as two democracies is not just important for our bilateral relations but also for the entire Global South,” PM Modi stated, reaffirming his full support for Guyana.

In his speech, PM Modi acknowledged President Irfaan Ali’s leadership, noting that his efforts have propelled the relationship between the two nations to new heights. He also dedicated the honor to the enduring friendship between the people of India and Guyana.

Following the award ceremony, PM Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank President Ali for the recognition, calling it a tribute to the 1.4 billion people of India. Earlier in his tour, PM Modi was also awarded the *Dominica Award of Honour* by the Commonwealth of Dominica for his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic and his commitment to enhancing relations between India and Dominica.
