PM Modi attends Navy Day 2023 in Sindhudurg, unveils Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Sindhudurg this afternoon to partake in the ‘Navy Day-2023’ celebrations, held off the scenic Tarkarli Beach, officials confirmed on Monday.
The Prime Minister landed at Chipi Airport around 3.45 p.m. and proceeded to the Rajkot Fort, where he inaugurated an equestrian statue of the legendary Maratha warrior-king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Subsequently, he paid respects at the sole temple of Chhatrapati in Sindhudurg Fort before moving to Tarkarli Beach. He witnessed the display of the Indian Navy’s strength and readiness as part of the ‘Navy Day-2023’ celebrations, including live demonstrations by naval ships, aircraft, and submarines with the men and women in dazzling whites.
The Maharashtra and Sindhudurg Police had made elaborate security arrangements for the PM’s visit, with major markets in Tarkarli, Malvan, and surroundings remaining closed for the day.

Traffic restrictions were implemented on the route from Chipi Airport to Tarkarli Beach, and other places underwent facelifts with necessary amenities created. Governor Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CMs, other ministers, local elected representatives, top brass of the Indian Navy, and other dignitaries were present for the events.
