Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers at Kerala’s renowned Guruvayur Lord Krishna temple on Wednesday as part of his two-day visit to the state. During the visit, he attended the wedding ceremony of actor and former MP Suresh Gopi’s daughter at the Guruvayur Sree Krishnaswamy temple in Thrissur.
Interacting with leading actors of Malayalam cinema, including Mohanlal, Mammootty, Jayaram, and Dileep, the Prime Minister blessed other couples whose marriages were solemnized at the temple. Adorned in the traditional Kerala attire of ‘mundu’ (dhoti) and ‘veshti’ (a shawl covering the upper body), PM Modi participated in the rituals and was welcomed by temple authorities with a traditional ‘Poorna kumbham.’
PM Modi also attended the wedding of Suresh Gopi’s daughter at the Kalyana Mandapam in the temple’s ‘nadapanthal.’ He handed over garlands to the couple, initiated the wedding, and clicked pictures with the newlyweds. The wedding ceremony was graced by prominent South Indian film actors.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi visited the Triprayar Sree Ramaswamy Temple in Thrissur, offering prayers and watching cultural performances. The temple, dedicated to Lord Ram, is significant in Kerala, and PM Modi also felicitated the artistes who performed the Ramayan at the temple.
