The tragic incident occurred on Saturday evening when a three-storeyed medical warehouse collapsed, claiming eight lives and injuring 28 others. The injured were rushed to three hospitals in the Krishna Nagar area, and some have already been discharged.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh for the families of those who died in the building collapse at Transport Nagar in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and ₹50,000 for those injured. The tragic incident occurred on Saturday evening when a three-storeyed medical warehouse collapsed, claiming eight lives and injuring 28 others. The injured were rushed to three hospitals in the Krishna Nagar area, and some have already been discharged.

Expressing his condolences, PM Modi said, “The loss of lives due to the building mishap in Lucknow is deeply saddening. My prayers are with the bereaved families. I also wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.” He confirmed that ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) will be provided to the next of kin of the deceased, while the injured will receive ₹50,000.

Lucknow’s Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Amit Verma, announced the formation of a committee to investigate the cause of the collapse. Structural engineers and experts will provide insights into the reasons behind the incident.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to expedite relief efforts and ensure proper treatment for the injured. He is closely monitoring the rescue operations and expressed his sorrow over the tragic loss of life. On social media platform X, CM Yogi wrote, “The loss of life in the Lucknow building collapse is extremely heartbreaking. My thoughts are with the grieving families, and I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

An official investigation into the cause of the collapse is underway, with relief and rescue operations continuing at the site.
