Following a tragic collision between a bus and a three-wheeled auto-rickshaw in Dholpur, Rajasthan, which claimed the lives of 12 individuals, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh for the families of each deceased victim. Additionally, Rs 50,000 will be provided to those injured in the accident.
“The accident in Dholpur is heartbreaking. My heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, including innocent children. May they find the strength to endure this sorrow. I also wish for a swift recovery for all those injured. The local administration, under the guidance of the state government, is providing all necessary assistance to the victims,” the Prime Minister’s Office stated on X.
According to police reports, the incident occurred late Saturday night, resulting in the deaths of 12 people, including children. Shiv Lahari Meena, In-charge of Bari Kotwali Police Station, informed the media that a sleeper bus was traveling from Dholpur to Jaipur when the accident took place near Sunipur, involving a tempo. Among the deceased were three adult women, the tempo driver, and several small children.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma also acknowledged the tragic incident and directed officials to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured. “The news of lives lost in this tragic road accident is deeply distressing. I have instructed district administration officials to provide timely and adequate medical care for the injured. I pray to Lord Shri Ram for peace for the departed souls and a swift recovery for the injured,” he said.
