Pixar has confirmed that the beloved superhero family from The Incredibles will be making a comeback with Incredibles 3, currently in development at Pixar Animation Studios. Brad Bird, who wrote and directed the first two films, will return to helm the third installment, according to Variety.

The announcement was made by Pixar chief Pete Docter during Disney’s D23 Expo on Friday, where he also highlighted other upcoming projects from the studio. Although Docter did not provide further details about Incredibles 3, this news follows the tremendous success of Inside Out 2, which recently became Pixar’s highest-grossing film ever.

The original The Incredibles, released in 2004, followed the lives of Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl as they adjusted to a world where superheroes were no longer allowed. The film was a major success, earning over $630 million worldwide. Its sequel, Incredibles 2, released in 2018, continued the story and achieved even greater success, grossing $1.24 billion globally, according to Variety.

Fans can look forward to the return of the iconic voice cast, including Craig T. Nelson as Mr. Incredible, Holly Hunter as Elastigirl, Sarah Vowell as Violet, and Samuel L. Jackson as Frozone. While no release date has been announced for Incredibles 3, excitement is already building for the next chapter in the superhero saga.
