In a potential case of data leakage, the employee data of Piramal Group has been allegedly hacked.
As per TechCrunch report, this claim has been made by the hacker itself, who claims that it sold the data of company’s current and ex-employees.
According to the report, this data allegedly contains full names and email addresses of current and ex-employees of Piramal group.
In a previous week, the hacker released a miniscule portion of data in a famous cybercrime forum.
Furthermore, the publication also claims it has gained access to bigger sample data from the hacker and corroborated via job listing website.
However, speaking to TechCrunch, Piramal Group’s spokesperson said that there is no breach of data, and the records might have been taken from a third party.
Talking to the website, Spokesperson Mihir Mukherjee said ‘After conducting a thorough investigation, we can confirm that there has been no data breach incident at Piramal Group. Our IT and cybersecurity teams have rigorously examined our systems, and there is no evidence to support the claim that any information or files of this nature exist on our servers.’
The company’s spokesperson also revealed that sample data doesn’t contain information related to Piramal like employee’s email ID. If any, it might have been sourced from third-party website.
In addition, Mukherjee also said that after conducting through probe, they have informed the govt. computer emergency response CERT-In, that no data-breach has happened.
