National Institute of Nursing Education, PGIMER, Chandigarh organised seven days’ workshop on obstetrical emergencies sponsored by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India from 12th to 18th February to develop the knowledge and skills of nurses to manage the obstetrical emergency. Dr. Vanita Jain, Prof. and Head, Department of Obstetrics and Gyaenecology, PGIMER, Chandigarh inaugurated the workshop. She encouraged the participants to learn and update their knowledge and skills to provide the quality care to the high risk mothers for the better maternal and neonatal outcome. Dr. Sukhpal Kaur Principal, NINE and Coordinator of the workshop welcomed the guests. She emphasized about the importance of learning in workshop as the participants are expected to participate actively in a workshop to enhance their skills further. 29 participants from Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana actively participated in the workshop and performed Hands on practice on Electronic Fetal Monitoring, Management of Shoulder Dystocia, Hypertensive Emergencies including Eclampsia, Postpartum Haemorrhage, Inversion of Uterus and Maternal Resuscitation. Participants expressed that they were highly benefited from the workshop by updating their skills.
