A newly launched airline, Akasa Air, will soon enable passengers to bring their pets along. Booking for the same will begin on October 15, with the first Akasa Air flight with animal passengers departing on November 1.Pets are already permitted on board Air India, Jet Airways, SpiceJet, and Vistara flights, although IndiGo and Air Asia do not, unless the pet is a service animal, such as a guide dog for a blind person.

According to earlier statements made by Akasa, the airline is actively expanding operations and anticipates reaching 250 weekly flights on nine different routes by October 10, 2022. The airline announced in a statement that, beginning on October 7, it will connect Bengaluru and Ahmedabad with Delhi as its sixth destination. This will be made possible by the addition of the fifth aircraft to the fleet. Additionally, starting on October 7, it will launch a second daily service on the Ahmedabad-Bengaluru route.

By the end of March 2023, Akasa Air’s fleet will consist of 18 aircraft, and over the following four years, the airline plans to add another 54 aircraft, bringing its entire fleet to 72 aircraft.

The airline began operations on August 7 with a trip from the financial centre to Ahmedabad, supported by late stock market investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and aviation industry veteran Vinay Dube. Since then, it has added Chennai, Kochi, and Bengaluru to its network of routes.
