Euthanization of Peanut the Squirrel Sparks Public Outrage Just Before Election Day Donald Trump won a sweeping victory just before Election Day, and the euthanization of Peanut the Squirrel stirred public outrage. Mark Longo, owner of the squirrel, says P’Nut’s death may have influence, too. Speaking at a memorial gathering in upstate New York, Longo said, “Maybe P’Nut played a part in his victory. I’m not quite sure.”. I’ll never know, but I’d like to have a little piece of me, knowing that [P’Nut] might have made a difference here. And that’s what I want the most. Longo, who didn’t vote on Election Day, said he’s “not political,” but he added it would be an “honor” if President Trump visited his farm in Pine City, where Peanut and Fred the Raccoon were seized in a raid by New York authorities.

Irritatingly, Longo vents his frustration at the Democrats for remaining mum on the issue. “The Democrats have been completely silent. They haven’t said a word,” he remarked, and as if adding insult to injury, he said Peanut didn’t “die from natural causes”. No apology or word has been uttered so far regarding the situation, according to him.

Speaking to a crowd of several hundred at the memorial, Longo said, “Raise your glasses for Fred and for P’Nut,” and declared, “We won’t let them die in vain.” The event included live music and specialty drinks: “Fred Juice” was apple cider sangria, while “The P’Nut” was a spiked chai latte martini. Attendees also wore merchandise, including the $20 “JUSTICE/PEANUT & FRED” t-shirts.

Other people also came wearing freckled squirrel costume, the most noted one of that was Kyle Evans. Speaking to reporters, he said, “We’re here for P’Nut the squirrel,” and added, “He was taken wrongly and wrongly euthanized. The squirrel wasn’t causing harm to anyone. It was on TikTok. It was famous. It wasn’t doing anything to anyone.”. It was a good cause.” Meanwhile, Martin Perry, who came in with wife Debbie, expressed outrage over the raid and said, “They come down here and take his animals and kill his animals… He has an animal farm sanctuary. It’s ridiculous.”
