IndiGo Airlines apologized on Saturday (September 7) following an incident on their Delhi-Varanasi flight where passengers experienced discomfort due to an air conditioning malfunction. The issue led to several passengers fainting from intense heat and suffocation, with some using magazines to cool themselves, as seen in a video shared online.

IndiGo sources explained that although the AC was reportedly functioning, temperature fluctuations caused the cabin to overheat, resulting in passenger panic.
IndiGo issued a statement saying, “We extend our apologies for the inconvenience experienced on flight 6E 2235 operating from Delhi to Varanasi on September 5, 2024.” They attributed the discomfort to temperature fluctuations, which were adjusted based on passenger feedback. The airline added that the cabin crew provided immediate assistance to those affected.
A similar situation occurred in June on a Delhi-Bagdogra flight when the AC malfunctioned for an hour, causing elderly passengers to struggle with breathing. IndiGo responded by stating, “IndiGo flight 6E 2521 between Delhi and Bagdogra was delayed due to high ground temperatures affecting operations. We prioritize passenger safety and regret the inconvenience caused by these uncontrollable factors.”
