Voting in Himachal Pradesh began on Saturday morning and Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the voters to vote in the election and create a new record of voting.

“Today is the polling day for all the assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh. I request all the voters of Devbhoomi to participate with full enthusiasm in this festival of democracy and create a new record of voting,” PM Modi tweeted.

In another tweet PM Modi greeted the young voters who are going to vote for the first time.

“My special wishes to all the youth of the state who will vote for the first time on this occasion,” PM Modi said.

Amid tight security arrangements on Saturday at 8 am polling for 68 Assembly seats has begun in the hill state.

Meanwhile, the fate of 412 candidates, including 24 women will be decided by 55.92 lakh voters in the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections.

Earlier on Thursday Congress general secretary Priyanka addressed the people of Himachal and lashed out BJP.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday addressed a rally in Sirmaur district and slammed the state government and said the debt of Rs 70,000 crores is saddled.

“There are 30 lakh young people in Himachal Pradesh and of them, 15 lakh are unemployed. This is at a time when government posts lie vacant in the state. This government (BJP) has snatched jobs and increased inflation,” Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said.

Moreover, Priyanka said, if Congress voted to power in the state then at its very first cabinet meeting the party will make a provision for 1 lakh government jobs.

However, before Priyanka Gandhi PM Modi also addressed the people of Hill state and lashed out at the Congress party.

“We always witness fights within the Congress party. We saw it in Rajasthan and other areas. Congress is the guarantee of instability, corruption, and scams. Congress can never give a stable government to HP and neither do they want,” PM Modi said.

Notably, the elections in Himachal Pradesh are going on and the counting of votes will take place on 8 December.
