Park Hospital has initiated the use of innovative Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, wherein a device similar to a pacemaker is used to treat Parkinson’s by controlling abnormal activities and providing relief in symptoms like tremors, rigidity, and small steps. This pioneering treatment provides significant relief from the painful symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Deepak Tyagi, while interacting with the media, explained that throughout the entire surgical process, from creating holes in the brain to surgery, patients are kept conscious to ensure their treatment proceeds correctly. Ashok Bediwal, CEO of Park Hospital, along with Dr Aadesh Kang, Deputy CEO, were also present.

Tyagi mentioned that there is a significant increase in the number of patients with Parkinson’s disease. While most of the patients recover with medications, those who are not responsive to medications, DBS proves to be an extremely effective alternative. Hospital authorities stated that Park Hospital has conducted extensive DBS surgeries on a large scale in the past decade with a success rate of 95%.

In India, Parkinson’s disease affects approximately 1% of people over the age of 60, and due to the increasing elderly population, its prevalence is on the rise. Bediwal stated on that doctors are dedicated to providing excellent treatment. The success of their DBS program demonstrates their commitment to innovative treatment solutions.
