Demonstrations unfolded in Panchkula as part of the nationwide strike organized by central trade unions and employee federations. Employees, project workers, laborers, and students congregated at the protest site, leading a robust demonstration that extended to the Panchkula bus stand.

The event was jointly presided over by Shravan Kumar Jangra, the District Head of Sarv Karmachari Sangh, Haryana, and Rama, the District President of CITU. The stage proceedings were overseen by Master Vijay Pal, the District Secretary of Sarv Karmachari Sangh, Haryana.

Addressing the gathering, Vijay Pal advocated for initiatives to halt privatization, secure job confirmations for contractual employees, reinstate old pension schemes, grant employee status to project workers, raise the minimum wage to Rs 26,000, establish the Eighth Pay Commission, and implement an unconditional ex gratia policy.

The strike, organized by federations of central trade unions and employee organizations, aimed to protest against the Electricity Amendment Bill 2023 and oppose the perceived anti-people policies of both the Central and State Governments.

Participation in the strike was widespread, with employees, teachers, project workers, labourers, farmers, and students engaging in the protest across all blocks of the district. Notable individuals present at the event included Randhir Raghav, Bhup Singh Verma, Rajesh Dhanda, Usha Devi, Renu Devi, Joginder Singh Kangra, Baldev Singh, RS Sathi, and Amarnath Verma. The demonstration reflected the involvement and support of various segments of the working population in expressing their dissent against the proposed policies.
