The strike, organized by federations of central trade unions and employee organizations, aimed to protest against the Electricity Amendment Bill 2023 and oppose the perceived anti-people policies of both the Central and State Governments.
Participation in the strike was widespread, with employees, teachers, project workers, labourers, farmers, and students engaging in the protest across all blocks of the district. Notable individuals present at the event included Randhir Raghav, Bhup Singh Verma, Rajesh Dhanda, Usha Devi, Renu Devi, Joginder Singh Kangra, Baldev Singh, RS Sathi, and Amarnath Verma. The demonstration reflected the involvement and support of various segments of the working population in expressing their dissent against the proposed policies.
