Why Were No Human Bones Discovered At Titanic’s Wreckage? Know The Reason Why

On the night of April 15, 1912, the iconic ship RMS Titanic sank, following its collision with an iceberg in North Atlantic Ocean.

As a result, around 1500 people lost their lives due to drowning. Even though, this incident took place 112 years ago, the sinking of the Titanic continues to be a source of interest to many experts, filmmakers, writers, and historians alike.

However, one aspect of this incident continues to remain a mystery for people even today. That is, that why single human bone was discovered in the debris.

Well, the answer lies in the marine life. It is speculated, that the passage of time has played a crucial role in destruction of bodies and in addition, it was consumed.

Another reason also lies in the depth, as the wreck is now buried at 3800 metres. Which is 12,500 feet underneath the water. In this depth, the water’s chemical composition plays a crucial role.

According to oceanography professor Robert Ballad (the man who discovered titanic’s wreckage at 1985) revealed, that water under 914 metres, which is 3000 feet is full of calcium carbonate, which is a fundamental element present in bones.

Hence in these depths it led to the dissolution of bones. Thus, causing degradation and removal of bones. Overall, explaining the probable reason behind non-discovery of human skeletal remains of titanic wreckage.
