Who Is Sharmila Faruqui? Pakistani Politician Seen With Mukesh Ambani In Paris

Mukesh Ambani, the Reliance Industries chairman was recently seen at Disneyland Paris alongside Pakistani politician Sharmila Faruqui. Ambani, India’s wealthiest individual, is in the French capital with his family, including his wife Nita Ambani and daughter Isha Ambani. The family is anticipated to attend some events at the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Who is Sharmila Faruqui?

Sharmila Faruqui is a notable Pakistani politician associated with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). Born on January 25, 1978, Faruqui, 46, has been elected to the Sindh Assembly twice and comes from a distinguished political lineage.

She is the maternal granddaughter of N M Uqaili, a former Pakistan Minister of Finance, and the niece of Salman Faruqui, a close associate of President Asif Ali Zardari. Her father, Usman Farooqi, was also a PPP leader and served as the chairman of Pakistan Steel Mills from 1981 to 1996. He passed away in 2021. The Faruqui family has faced several controversies, including allegations of embezzling $1.95 billion from Pakistan Steel Mills.

Faruqui holds an MBA from the Adamson Institute of Business Administration and Technology in Karachi and a doctorate in Law, which she earned in 2023. She celebrated her achievement with a social media post stating, “Officially a doctor.”

She is married to Hashaam Riaz Sheikh, a former Wall Street investment banker and advisor to President Asif Ali Zardari. The couple’s lavish 15-day wedding in 2015 is considered one of Pakistan’s most extravagant, with performances by artists such as Sukhbir Singh. They have a six-year-old son named Hussain.
