Pakistani Brutal Military Operations On Baloch Civilians: 18 Abduction And Home Raids

A prominent human rights group in Balochistan, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), has accused the Pakistani military of carrying out violent raids and abductions across the region. According to the BYC, the army has forcibly taken 18 people during an operation in the areas of Ganz and Panwan in the town of Jewani, Gwadar. The group claimed the military surrounded the towns, raided homes, and harassed civilians, triggering widespread protests in the province.

Details of the Attack and Abductions

The BYC shared disturbing details of the military operation, claiming that it was part of a larger strategy of ethnic cleansing. The group named two individuals, Sajjad and Zareef, as victims of the recent abductions. These men were taken in front of Ganz Hotel during the raid. While the identities of the other victims remain unknown, the BYC has raised concerns about the continued disappearance of Baloch civilians at the hands of Pakistani forces.

Calls for Justice and International Attention

In response to the abductions, BYC joined forces with the families of the victims to hold protests across Balochistan, demanding justice. The group has called on global human rights organisations to raise their voices against what they describe as a genocide of the Baloch people.

The BYC statement also highlighted the continued military operations in Balochistan, where civilians are reportedly subjected to torture, abduction, and extrajudicial killings. The group believes that the military’s operations and the systematic enforced disappearances are part of an ongoing campaign to wipe out the Baloch population. The BYC stressed that such atrocities are often concealed from the international community due to the lack of media access in the region.

Increasing Military Repression and Unreported Atrocities

The BYC also mentioned that the scale of repression in Balochistan has been escalating, particularly in the last month. Dozens of people were reportedly abducted and killed in December alone. Despite the mounting abuses, the group noted that these issues remain largely ignored by both local media and international institutions.

The BYC further criticised Pakistan’s government for allegedly covering up the violence, citing reports of houses being burned, livestock being looted, and civilians being tortured and humiliated at military checkpoints. The committee also claimed that bodies of those disappeared are often discovered mutilated.

The ongoing oppression in Balochistan has drawn attention from international human rights organisations, but it remains largely absent from mainstream news outlets, according to the BYC.

A Plea for Global Attention

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee has called for immediate international intervention to address the human rights abuses in Balochistan. The group insists that the international community must demand justice for the victims and ensure that Pakistan’s government is held accountable for the violence perpetrated against the Baloch people.
