According to ARY News, Pakistan has verified their first Monkeypox (mpox) case in 2025. As per a Ministry of Health official, the patient was found during Peshawar’s airport screening to have arrived from Dubai on January 24.

Medical attention will be provided to the patient at Services Hospital in Peshawar. The total number of mpox cases in Pakistan since the country declared a health emergency now stands at 10.

The Ministry of Health stressed that efforts are ongoing to protect the public from the illness. Particularly connections to Gulf countries, the patient’s travel history has increased worries about the possible spread of mpox.

Traveling from Sharjah previously, a passenger also displayed signs of Monkeypox. During airport screening, Rajanpur’s Javed Ahmed was found to be testing positive for the ailment. He’s in seclusion for considering measures. Medical officials found the situation worrisome and therefore are taking rigorous measures.

Although its natural reservoir has not been found, monkeypox is a viral ailment brought on by the Mpox virus. African rodents and nonhuman primates like monkeys, thought to pass the viruses to people, are among suspected carriers.

Usually starting on the face and spreading to other body areas, the rash follows a fever that starts the disease. Signs can vary from fatigue, headache, and enlarged lymph nodes to rash progressing across many stages. The condition has an incubation period of 7 to 14 days and a 2-4 weeks duration.
