Khyber Pakhtunkhwa [Pakistan], March 1: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has announced a monetary reward for any information leading to the arrest of the unidentified suicide bomber responsible for the deadly attack on Darul Uloom Haqqania, a religious seminary in Nowshera district.

Deadly Attack at Religious Seminary

The attack, which occurred after Friday prayers, claimed the lives of six individuals, including Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani, son of Maulana Samiul Haq and the chief of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-S). The explosion also injured 18 others, causing panic and devastation among the worshippers.

Details of the Incident

According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by Haqqani’s son, Maulana Abdulhaq Sani, the explosion happened at around 2 PM when they were leaving the seminary. As they reached the small gate, an unknown suicide bomber approached Haqqani and detonated explosives strapped to his body.

Sani, who was among the injured, stated in the FIR that:
“The bomber took innocent lives and spread fear. We urge the police to take immediate action against those responsible.”

Investigation and Legal Action

The CTD registered the case at Mardan region police station at 4:45 PM on Friday. The case includes:

  • Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 (Punishment for acts of terrorism)
  • Section 302 (Intentional murder)
  • Section 324 (Attempted murder)
  • Section 427 (Mischief causing damage) of the Pakistan Penal Code

The FIR also lists five other victims who lost their lives and nine other injured individuals, besides Sani.

The CTD has urged citizens to provide any credible information about the suicide bomber and has assured complete confidentiality. Law enforcement agencies are conducting an extensive manhunt to track down the attacker and possible accomplices.
