A Polish woman has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), seeking custody of her child from her Pakistani husband, Adeel Khan, as reported by ARY News on Saturday.

In her petition, Anna Monika Wajsk alleges that her husband, Adeel Khan, a resident of Sindh, brought their daughter, who holds Polish nationality, to Pakistan in 2022 without her consent. She claims that Adeel Khan deceived her by taking the child to Pakistan.

The Islamabad High Court has directed the interior secretary to establish a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to locate the child and her father, in collaboration with the Sindh IG police and the home department. The court also instructed the JIT to obtain Adeel Khan’s family tree information from the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) to trace his whereabouts.

Furthermore, the IHC ordered that Adeel Khan and his daughter’s names be added to the Exit Control List (ECL) and blacklisted to prevent them from leaving the country. According to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Adeel Khan was last seen at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport on December 18, suggesting that he is still in Pakistan.

The court has adjourned the hearing until January 21.

In a similar case on December 27, 2022, the Islamabad HC granted custody of two children to their Polish mothers, who had filed a petition against their ex-husband, Saleem Muhammad, a resident of Sialkot. The court directed Saleem Muhammad to hand over the children to their mothers after hearing arguments in the custody dispute.

Saleem Muhammad claimed in court that he had brought the children to Pakistan with the consent of their mothers but stated that his relationship with his ex-wives had deteriorated due to religious differences, as his wives had been taking the children to church.
