Meteors are rocks in space that orbit the Sun and produce spectacular streaks of light as they disintegrate upon entering the Earth’s atmosphere because of friction. The streaks are caused by the superheated air that surrounds the rock, not the rock itself. When multiple meteors are observed at the same time, it is a ‘meteor shower’.
The meteors, which had appeared in different areas of Karachi, trailed with fragments of a broken star look, and Twitter users posted clips of the spectacle in colors. The stunning appearance was seen between 6 AM and lasted momentarily. Experts had referred to the meteors as “meteorites” to explain that it occurs when celestial bodies warm up in the Earth’s atmosphere.
