A Florida man accused of threatening former President Donald Trump, U.S. Sen. JD Vance, and their families in social media posts was arrested on Friday, according to police.
The Jupiter Police Department said that Michael W. Wiseman was taken into custody on charges of written threats to kill.
Wiseman was arrested without incident and is being detained in the Palm Beach County Jail, according to Jupiter police Maj. Don Hennessy.
A jail employee confirmed Wiseman’s detention on Friday night but could not provide information on whether Wiseman had legal representation to comment on his behalf.
Detectives reported that Wiseman posted multiple threats on Facebook against Trump and Vance, who were nominated as the Republican presidential and vice-presidential candidates, respectively this week. Besides, threats were made concerning bodily harm to their families, police stated.
Several people notified local police about the posts, in person and online.
Jupiter is about 20 miles north of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort home in Palm Beach.
The investigation was a collaborative effort with the U.S. Secret Service and the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office, according to police.
