Pakistani-American businessperson and political activist Sajid N Tarar has called for Pakistan to embrace a nationalist leader like Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking at the launch of the Association of Indian American Minorities (AIAM) in Maryland, Tarar highlighted Modi’s leadership, which has propelled India to become the fifth-largest economy in the world.
India’s Success Story Under PM Modi
Tarar expressed admiration for PM Modi’s “India First” approach, saying,
“India is rapidly progressing and is on its way to becoming the third-largest economy. We need a leader like Modi Sahib in Pakistan, someone who prioritizes national interests.”
The event brought together prominent members of the Indian American community to discuss India’s growth and inclusivity under Modi’s leadership.
Launch of AIAM: A Platform for Unity
The AIAM, launched at the Sligo Seventh-day Adventist Church in Maryland, aims to promote the welfare of minority communities within the Indian American diaspora. The non-governmental organisation unites Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, and others under one umbrella.
During the event, Prime Minister Modi was awarded the Dr Martin Luther King Jr Global Peace Award for Minority Upliftment (in absentia), recognizing his commitment to inclusive development.
Leadership and Inclusivity Highlighted
Renowned Sikh philanthropist Jasdip Singh, appointed Chairman of AIAM, outlined the organisation’s goal to advance PM Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047. He noted that India’s growth under Modi ensures equal opportunities for all citizens, regardless of religion, caste, or sect.
The AIAM’s board of directors comprises representatives from various minority communities, including Sikhs, Christians, Hindus, Muslims, and Indian Jews.
A Call for Nationalist Leadership in Pakistan
Sajid N Tarar’s remarks emphasize the need for transformational leadership in Pakistan to replicate India’s path of progress. He concluded,
“Observing India’s success story is inspiring. Pakistan needs a leader who can prioritize the nation above all else, just like PM Modi.”
This statement has sparked discussions on leadership and development across borders.
