In a recent overture, the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan (SCBAP) has reached out to its Indian counterpart, signalling an attempt to enhance bilateral ties between the neighbouring nations.

The outreach included a formal letter, dated October 5, 2023, from Muktdir Akhtar Shabbir, Secretary of SCBAP, to Adish Agarwala, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association of India (SCBAI).

The letter not only appreciated India’s judicial innovations, such as e-filing and e-courts, but also extended an invitation for Indian lawyers to visit Pakistan.

Adding a unique twist to diplomacy, the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has proposed a friendly cricket match, inviting male and female lawyer teams from India to participate.

This gesture recognizes the deep-rooted cricket passion in both countries, using the sport as a medium to foster camaraderie.

Advocate Adish Aggarwala responded positively, acknowledging the significant role sports, especially cricket, play in bridging gaps and enhancing mutual respect between India and Pakistan.
