Several Pakistani cricketing icons, including Wasim Akram and Javed Miandad, have praised Indian stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for announcing their retirement from T20 internationals following India’s triumph at the T20 World Cup. India secured their second T20 World Cup title with a hard-fought seven-run victory over South Africa in Barbados.

“I have always been a fan of Rohit’s batting… Kohli’s greatness is there for all to see,” said former batsman Zaheer Abbas, quoted by PTI. Miandad echoed similar sentiments, believing that the timing of their retirement was fitting given their contributions to the sport.

Waqar Younis, renowned for his fast bowling, lauded Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for their stellar performances under pressure, which were instrumental in India’s success. He also highlighted Jasprit Bumrah’s exceptional bowling, calling him a “pure match winner.”

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif credited India’s consistent success to the synergy between team management, led by Rahul Dravid, and the players. “Dravid deserves a lot of credit… he has given a clear pathway to the Indian team,” Latif remarked.

Shahid Afridi applauded Rohit’s leadership and Kohli’s match-winning abilities, stating that their decision to retire on a high note was commendable.

Mohsin Hasan Khan, former Test batter and coach, praised Rohit and Kohli for setting an exemplary retirement standard, noting their influence on aspiring cricketers. He emphasized India’s depth in T20 talent and Rohit’s unmatched record of five centuries in the format.
