Talha Saeed, the son of UN-proscribed terrorist Muhammad Hafiz Saeed, faced defeat in Lahore’s NA 122 seat as the results of the recent elections in Pakistan were disclosed on Friday, according to local media reports. Latif Khosa, backed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), secured 117,109 votes, while Talha Saeed received only 2024 votes. Hafiz Saeed, associated with the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), is wanted in India for his role in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

The Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML), linked to Hafiz Saeed, fielded candidates across all national and provincial assembly constituencies for the general elections held on February 8. Preliminary projections indicated that the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) won 12 seats, while independent candidates supported by Imran Khan’s PTI secured nine seats. Imran Khan himself was disqualified from contesting, leading his supporters to run independently.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) reportedly won in 11 seats, according to Dawn. Delay in the announcement of election results was attributed to a “lack of connectivity” by Pakistan’s Interior Ministry, which emphasized the preventive measures taken for foolproof security.

Results indicated that Nawaz Sharif secured victory in the NA-130 constituency with 171,024 votes. Shehbaz Sharif, former Prime Minister and Nawaz Sharif’s brother, won in the NA-123 seat with 63,953 votes. Shehbaz Sharif also secured victory in Lahore’s PP-158 seat with 38,642 votes. His son, Muhammad Hamza Shehbaz Sharif, won in Lahore’s NA-118 seat with 105,960 votes. PML-N chief organiser Maryam Nawaz emerged victorious in Lahore’s PP-189 seat with 23,598 votes.

PTI leader Barrister Gohar Ali claimed that PTI is leading in 150 seats and will form the government across Pakistan. Imran Khan’s official Twitter handle shared a video of Gohar Ali Khan expressing confidence in PTI forming governments in Punjab, KP, and at the federal level. The post emphasized that any attempt to alter the results would be opposed by the people and not accepted by local and international observers and media.
