Prime Minister Narendra Modi is vying for his third consecutive term, while the opposition coalition, INDIA, has emerged as a formidable force seeking to dislodge him from power in the ongoing general elections. In the 2019 polls, the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance, in collaboration with several parties including Congress, VCK, MDMK, CPI, CPI(M), IUML, MMK, KMDK, TVK, and AIFB, secured an overwhelming victory, claiming 38 out of the 39 seats in the state.
The electoral process is structured into seven phases, with the second phase scheduled for April 26, followed by subsequent phases on May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. This mirrors the format of the previous general elections held in 2019.
