Chief Minister Eknath Shinde asserted that his government has successfully provided employment opportunities to more than three lakh young individuals within the past one-and-a-half years through skill development initiatives. He made this declaration during an event inaugurating study rooms in 418 industrial training institutes (ITIs) across the state.
Shinde emphasized the significance of empowering the youth, stating, “Three lakh youngsters have received employment in the last one-and-a-half years due to the initiatives of the skill development, employment, entrepreneurship, and Innovation Department. India is a nation of youth, and our future lies in their hands. Therefore, the government is working towards making them skillful, self-reliant, and prepared for the needs of the future.” The Chief Minister addressed students and ITI staff members during a digital ceremony, attended by Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha.
Minister Lodha elaborated on the government’s efforts to foster a positive and conducive environment within ITIs for student learning and growth. He introduced the concept of study rooms, which will be available to students after regular ITI hours until 8:30 pm. These rooms will benefit students preparing for competitive exams such as MPSC and UPSC, college students, as well as those in 10th and 12th grades. The study rooms will be gender-segregated and equipped with essential amenities like electricity, water supply, and washrooms.
In addition to the 75 virtual classrooms inaugurated on August 15, 2023, students will now have access to these new study rooms within ITIs, further enhancing educational resources for the youth.
