Yellow alert issued until Jan 15 for Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh

Residents of Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh can expect no respite from the bone-chilling cold as dense fog and cold waves are predicted in various parts of the states. The Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow Alert in Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh until January 15, anticipating the continuation of fog and cold waves. According to the weather department, no significant change in minimum temperatures is expected in the next four days.

The Chandigarh Airport area recorded a minimum temperature of 8.6 degrees Celsius, while Chandigarh itself registered a minimum temperature of 7.2 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department warns that visibility issues due to fog are causing increased difficulties for vehicle drivers, and trains are also being affected. To combat the cold, people are resorting to using fingerless gloves.

As per the Meteorological Department, no relief is anticipated from the fog and cold waves in various regions of Haryana and Punjab. Due to reduced visibility, there is an increase in the plight of vehicle drivers. Trains are also being impacted by the fog. To protect themselves from the cold, people are relying on fingerless gloves. The Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow Alert in the state until January 15, focusing on fog and cold waves.

According to the Meteorological Department, a cyclonic circulation in Haryana and surrounding areas, as a westward disturbance, is now above sea level by 3.1 kilometers from the average sea level in the northern and northeastern Uttar Pradesh and surrounding areas.

The latitude has moved 75 degrees E to the north, away from 28 degrees E, 12 degrees E. A weak western disturbance is expected to affect the western Himalayan region from January 12, 2024.

The Meteorological Department reports that the Fatehabad district in Haryana recorded the lowest minimum temperature. The minimum temperature in Fatehabad was recorded at 5.7 degrees Celsius. In the last 24 hours, there has been a decrease of about 0.3 degrees Celsius in the minimum temperature. Additionally, Bhiwani recorded a minimum temperature of 5.9 degrees, Karnal at 6.0 degrees, Balsamand in Hisar at 6.3 degrees, and Hisar at 6.2 degrees Celsius. Narnaul and Bhiwani in Mahendragarh recorded a minimum temperature of 6.5 degrees Celsius.
