Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik challenged WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh to take a drug test and lie detector if he is sure of his innocence on Wednesday after seven wrestlers accused him of sexual harassment.
“We want all competitions to take place under the ad hoc panel of IOA. If WFI chief is involved in any way, we will oppose it,” said another Olympic medallist Bajrang Punia.
The wrestlers also made the decision to wear black armbands on Thursday in protest of Singh’s slow-moving probe. The protesting wrestlers added that if Singh is associated with their organisation, they will oppose the holding of events.
“I challenge WFI president to take a Narco Test. We are also willing to take the test. Let the truth come out in the open, who is culprit and who is not,” Malik said at a press conference here.
The protesters have been demanding arrest of Singh for alleged sexual harassment and intimidation of seven female wrestlers, including a minor. Delhi Police have filed two FIRs against the WFI president on 28 April.
In the wake of the incident, the Delhi Police urged the public to remain peaceful and abide by the law.The protesting wrestlers have made it clear that they won’t move until they get justice and Brij Bhushan is removed as the WFI chief and put behind bars. The wrestlers took out a candle march in Delhi on Sunday following the protest.
