World’s largest Gita to find home in ISKCON Temple in Kurukshetra

Kurukshetra, known globally as a religious city, is set to gain another significant identity with the construction of the world’s largest Shri Krishna Arjun temple by ISKCON, costing Rs 125 crore. Positioned at Jyotisar, the very site where Lord Krishna delivered the immortal message of the Gita thousands of years ago, the temple will house the world’s largest Gita.

This unique Gita, crafted in Milan, Italy, has recently arrived at the temple. Weighing a thousand kilograms, the Gita comprises 700 pages made from Yupo synthetic paper, a special material that allows machine-readable page turning. Notably, Yupo paper is resistant to oil, chemicals, and water, and its production doesn’t involve cutting down trees. Currently, a Holy Gita measuring 9 by 6 and a half feet and weighing 800 kg is housed in a temple in Delhi.

Additionally, a Buddhist stupa near Brahmasarovar in Kurukshetra is undergoing renovations at a cost of approximately five crores. The stupa’s redesign is nearing completion, and the remaining work is expected to conclude in the upcoming year. Buddhist Guru Sek Kai Lee Mahathero from Malaysia visited on November 24th to inspect the progress of the stupa’s reconstruction.
