With 22k Covid cases, India records lowest daily hike since July

New Delhi: India records 22,065 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 99,06,165 on Tuesday as 354 deaths were also reported, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.

The last time India recorded around 20,000 cases was on 2 July when there were 20,903 fresh cases reported in 24 hours; on July 3 it was 22,771; July 6 it was 22,251. On Monday, India recorded 27,071 fresh cases.

As India’s Covid count rose to 99,06,165, the number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 94,22,636 pushing the national recovery rate to 95.12 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday. The death count rose to 1,43,709 with 354 new fatalities, the data showed. However, there are 3,39,820 active cases in the country. India currently has a fatality rate of 1.45 per cent due to coronavirus. 

Delhi reported 1,617 new Covid-19 cases, including 2,343 recoveries and 41 deaths in the last 24 hours. Active cases in the city stand at 14,480.

The number of new Covid-19 patients in Maharashtra dropped below 3,000. The state recorded 2,949 new cases, taking the count to 18.83 lakh. With 60 new deaths, the state’s fatality count went up to 48,269. Whereas 4,610 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the number of recoveries to 17.61 lakh. At present, there are 72,383 active Covid-19 cases.

About 5,218 new Covid-19 cases and 5,066 recoveries and 33 deaths reported in Kerala today. Number of active cases now stand at 57,757 so far and 6,16,666 patients have recovered.

Rajasthan reported 1,045 new Covid-19 cases, including 13 deaths and 1722 recoveries today. Active cases in the state now stand at 15,510.

Karnataka reported 1185 new Covid-19 cases, including 1594 discharges and 11 deaths today. Total number of coronavirus cases so far is 9,03,425 with 8,75,796 total discharges, and 11,965 deaths.  Active cases in the state stand at 15,645. 

Telangana registered 491 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the total caseload to over 2.78 lakh while three fatalities pushed the toll to 1,499.

Jharkhand’s Covid-19 tally mounted to 1,11,722 as 212 more people tested positive for the infection on Tuesday. The Covid-19 death toll reached 1,000 mark as one more person succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours. The State has 1,581 active coronavirus cases, while 1,09,141 people have been cured of the disease so far.
