With 2,141 infections in 24 hours, India sees a marginal increase in Covid cases

According to government data updated on Thursday, India saw a single-day increase of 2,141 coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 4,46,36,517, while active cases decreased to 25,510.

The death toll has risen to 5,28,943 with 20 fatalities, including 13 deaths reconciled by Kerala, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry at 8 a.m.

Three of the seven new fatalities were reported in Maharashtra, with one each in Karnataka, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.

According to the ministry, active cases account for 0.06 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.76 percent.

In the last 24 hours, the active caseload has decreased by 458 cases.

According to the health ministry, the daily positivity rate was 0.85 percent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.97 percent.

The total number of recoveries increased to 4,40,82,064, with a 1.19 percent case fatality rate.

According to the ministry, the country has received 219.46 crore doses of Covid vaccine as part of the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive.

On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It surpassed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19.

India passed the two crore mark on May 4, three crore on June 23 last year, and four crore on January 25 this year.
