CHANDIGARH: World Health Organization (WHO) has taken cognisance of the Chandigarh administration’s timely efforts to contain the Covid-19 pandemic. WHO representative Dr Srinivasan Selvamani called on the Governor on Wednesday and presented his report on the fight against coronavirus in Chandigarh. In this detailed report, he appreciated the timely action undertaken by Chandigarh administration in containing the spread of infection in Bapu Dham Colony. The WHO representative specifically appreciated strict perimeter control, setting up of rapid response teams and involvement of civil defence as a part of containment strategy. The report praised the deputy commissioner for involving volunteers to carry out counselling and provide motivation in the face of this pandemic. These community level volunteers acted as an effective link between the community and administration.
