West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee slammed the central government over increased GST

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Thursday attacked the central government regarding the increased GST. Addressing a rally Mamata Banerjee said that GST has been imposed on curd, rice, and even hospital beds and asked how much GST will be imposed on the country’s people.

In a rally in Kolkata, Mamata Banerjee slammed the central government in her style and said that ED, CBI is the backbone of the BJP and but no one can scare them on this basis. Mamta said, “What will the people eat when the BJP is implementing GST on everything, even puffed rice and milk powder. How will the poor survive in this country?”.

Mamata further said, “The BJP will be swept away from power by the people’s mandate in 2024. They will be defeated. I can certainly say that the BJP will not get a single-party majority, and once that happens, others will unite to form the next government”.

Recently the Government of India has implemented some new rates in GST, in which many such things have been brought under the purview of tax. The government is being criticized for this.

According to the new slab of GST, packaged and leveled products will be taxed at 18 percent, on products like fish, curd, paneer, lassi, honey, dry makhana, puffed rice, dry soybean, peas, wheat, and other cereals. GST is now applicable on these at the rate of 5 percent. Till now there was no GST on these products.
