Chandigarh Congress inaugurated its campaign for the 2024 Parliament elections in the city today with the theme-based slogan “Hain tayaar hum” (We are ready). The launch coincided with the 139th anniversary of the world’s oldest political party. Chandigarh Congress spokesperson Rajeev Sharma stated that the party marked this historic day by paying homage to leaders who provided successful leadership during challenging and conflict-filled times in the country’s history.
Former Mayor Harphool Chand Kalyan raised the party flag at the Sector 35 office in a ceremony jointly presided over by former Mayors Surendra Singh and Kamlesh, along with party general secretaries Rajeev Moudgil, Achhe Lal Gaur, and Zahid Parvez Khan. The event included patriotic song performances.
The Congress spokesperson congratulated the nation and party workers, emphasizing that the Congress has historically played a crucial role in shaping the country’s future, adapting to changing times, and facing new challenges. In the current political landscape, where the BJP government is perceived as challenging the social and political fabric, the Congress is leading the fight to preserve democracy and the Constitution. The aim is to ensure religious freedom, social and economic justice, irrespective of region, caste, or gender.
