The State Election Commission has announced the results of the West Bengal Panchayat Poll, but the results are in limbo due to complaints and counter-complaints by both the ruling TMC and BJP. The Calcutta High Court has taken cognizance of the matter and said that the victory of a candidate is subject to the endorsement by the court. This has created confusion over whether the newly elected members of the three-tier panchayat bodies can take over. The judges of the High Court watched the video of poll violence themselves and after that came to the conclusion that the declared results have to be scrutinized by the court appointed committee.
